TOP 10 LOCATIONS FOR PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS :: INDIANA FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER

There are SO many locations that I could have chosen to include in this blog post. I have narrowed the list down to 10 spots. To be honest, I can shoot about anywhere, but I do have my reliable go-to favorites that I recommend. I have divided these into Indianapolis and Souteastern Indiana(around Greensburg where I am located).

INDIANAPOLIS LOCATIONS

Coxhall Garden

This park is located in Carmel, Indiana at 116th Street and Towne Road. This location has both urban/stone look and country/barn look. It is very versatile and I typically shoot my fall mini sessions at this location.

Southeastway Park

This park is located off of I-74 southeast of Indianapolis. This location is spacious and has a lot to offer. Grassy meadows, paved walking paths, large trees, and even a playground for when we are done with the session. Your kids can run around and have fun! If you are looking for that wooded vibe for your family photos…this is it! This location does require an additional $30 fee to have your session here.

Lockerbie Square

This is a beautifully manicured neighborhood in downtown Indianapolis. It has a gorgeous cobble stoned road that adds great texture to photos. I would recommend this location for engaged couples or families with older kids since we are close to busy streets.

Downtown Zionsville

Having lived in Zionsville, I am very familiar with this location. There are several side streets and park near by that offer a variety of different looks. This location is also well manicured and has some great dinning options for after your session.

Creekside Nature Park

This is one of my favorite hidden gems! This park is located in Zionsville across from Lions Park. This location offers a grassy meadow surrounded by beautiful woods. There is also a paved path that wraps around the park with an entrance down to Eagle Creek. If the water level isn’t too high, hoping down there for a few creekside photos is a must!

SOUTHEASTERN INDIANA LOCATIONS

Downtown Greensburg

Of course, my own town is a great spot for local clients to this spot in their photos. There are a couple cute streets and alleys. Right on the square there is a brick sidewalk that is unique and adds texture. And you can stop by my favorite coffee shop!

Rebekah Park

This is another local spot in Greensburg. This park offers an open grassy area that bumps up to a wooded nature area that is the perfect backdrop for a session.

Downtown Columbus

This super artsy downtown offers a variety of alleys and spots to get some great photos. One of my favorite spots in Columbus, Indiana is the Cummins building that has neat columns with greenery and vines. Another nice perk of being in Columbus are the many options for small town restaurants nearby.

Mil Race Park

This park is located in Columbus, Indiana on the west side of town. It offers a lot of grassy/wooded areas, a covered bridge, pond, and access to creekside. This is a great spot where families can let the little ones run around.

In Your Home

A lifestyle session in your home is always a great option when determining where you want to have your session. It allows your home to be captured on camera and remembered. You have so many moments in your home that picking this as your location is a great option. I do most of my in home sessions for newborn sessions, but don’t let that stop you from having your family session in your home!

Are you ready to book your session?

Once you book your session, I will work with you to determine what location would work best for your family’s photography goals. But remember, no matter where your sessions is located, we will be having fun and making memories for you and your family.

Baby Xander - Lifestyle Newborn - Greensburg, Indiana Photographer

Welcome to the world sweet little Xander! This little guy was a perfect angel for his session. Mom and dad just adore him. And they are doing wonderful as brand new parents. I loved this relaxed lifestyle setting. From hanging out on the couch, to the cat wanting to be part of everything. :) Xander’s newborn is so cute! As is the whole Abplanalp household! I might have to have Linsey decorate for me!!

I have been very blessed to get to photograph so many beautiful newborns lately. Lifestyle sessions are definitely my jam when it comes to newborns. I love documenting the family bond in their home and the new baby in the nursery. I always bring wraps and props to do a few swaddled posed looks, but honestly….those cute swaddle blankets and simple onesies are always some of my favorites.

Do you know someone who is expecting?? I would LOVE to chat with them and be part of their wonderful journey. They can contact me at hello@jenndavisphoto.com or by clicking here.

The Miller Family :: Fall Family Session :: Fall in Indiana

I laughed so much during this session! The Miller family just knows how to laugh! Sessions like this always validate my love for family sessions and my love for my clients. I have photographed this family since their oldest was a newborn! I love when I have that established relationship with clients. It makes EVERYTHING run more smoothly! The parents already know what to expect before the session even starts. They understand that I get those poses of everyone looking and smiling and then… We play! We snuggle! We giggle!

I also love it when Mom and Dad just walk away and let me interact with their children. Here are the reasons why:

  1. The children pay attention to me and look at my camera. They aren’t looking towards Mom and Dad.

  2. The children and I can make connections with each other. We become friends. So then, when I put them back together with the whole group, they usually trust me and follow my directions.

  3. With those connections, the children have a better chance of remembering me at future sessions.

  4. It’s less stress on Mom and Dad. They don’t have to stand behind me trying to get their children to look and smile. Now granted, there are some instances where I do have a parent stand close so their child doesn’t get nervous. But, it’s my job to get the child to smile….not Mom or Dad.

This session had everything listed above! And Mom sent me a text after the session that said, “Little sister said she loves you. She said you’re one of her best friends”. —and isn’t that just the SWEETEST thing!! My heart melted with she told me that.

My goal at every session is to make everyone feel comfortable and relaxed during their time in front of the camera. I am a very laid back person. I understand how the minds of little ones work and try to always make them have fun. Bottom line….stress free!

The Noles Family - Greensburg, Indiana Family Photographer

This family is seriously the sweetest!! Those girls! :) They just melt my heart. Mom and Dad wanted their session at their family home. It was the perfect setting for an evening session. And those willow trees were gorgeous with the sun coming through! Anthony planted them himself and I’m going to admit, I am a little jealous. He is going to have to teach me how.

Their youngest daughter was so cute. When it wasn’t her turn in front of the camera, she was right by me, interested in what I was doing and wanting to be a big helper. There were giggles from everyone! I love when family sessions are stress free and enjoyable for everyone! That is always my goal when shooting…no matter if it’s a family session, a senior, or even a wedding. I want the atmosphere to be inviting and relaxing.

Barker Family - Greensburg, Indiana Family Photographer

The Barker Family was so fun to hang out with during their session. These boys were great! Of course, who wouldn’t want to go wading into a creek and go on a fun adventure? We were ankle deep in water and loving every minute! Mom and Dad were troopers and very go with the flow. That made my job easier as we just had a good time. The boys were just being boys!
